Destroying Limiting Subconscious Beliefs: Unleashing Your Real Dreams

October is a month filled with creativity and excitement, especially with Halloween just around the corner.

While many of us have vivid memories of our childhood Halloween dreams, it raises an intriguing question: were we more passionate about our Halloween dreams than our real dreams?

My goal in this writing is to assist you in channeling your childhood enthusiasm into realizing Halloween dreams into achieving your actual dream by addressing any limiting subconscious beliefs.

The Power of Halloween Dreams

As children, we had grand visions of what we wanted to be. I remember one Halloween my mama asked, “Jr. what do you want to be for Halloween?” I responded enthusiastically, “I want to be Dracula!” My mama said, “Ok, you can be Dracula.”

Her support fueled my imagination and confidence that I could realize that Halloween dream, and I did. I’m sure if you dressed up for Halloween, you too experienced this type of confidence.

As we transition into adulthood, that encouragement typically fades. Instead, we get a lot of messages telling us we need to find and keep a good job, even if we don’t like it. Because of this, many of us give up on their dreams.

As we get older, the dreams we had as kids can transform into limiting subconscious beliefs that hold us back. These beliefs come from how we were raised and what the people around us say. They tell us that chasing our dreams isn’t realistic, that we should do what everyone else does, and that our big hopes are just silly childhood dreams. This shift from support to doubt can discourage us and make us forget about the things we truly wanted to do.

Limiting Subconscious Beliefs are negative thoughts that make us feel we are not good enough or capable of reaching our goals. They come from parents, society, or personal experiences. These beliefs often run in our minds without us noticing.

To move forward, we need to recognize our limiting beliefs. These beliefs hold us back from reaching our potential and following our dreams. The first step is to identify these beliefs so we can break them down and get back to our goals. Once we see them, we can start to question and change them.

Challenging and Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

So, how do we confront these limiting subconscious beliefs? Here are some practical steps to help you get started:

  • Acknowledge Your Beliefs: The first step is to recognize and accept that these beliefs exist. Reflect on the messages you received growing up and how they have shaped your current mindset.
  • Write Them Down: Put pen to paper and list your limiting beliefs. Writing your thoughts helps you deal with them better.
  • Counter with Positive Affirmations: For each limiting belief, write an alternative, empowering belief. For example, if you believe “living a dream is for kids,” counter it with “many adults achieve their dreams every day.”
  • Seek Evidence: Find true stories of people who overcame challenges and achieved their dreams. Use these stories as motivation to challenge your beliefs.
  • Take Action: Start taking small steps toward your dream. Taking action strengthens positive beliefs and weakens limiting ones.

For instance, I had to confront my belief that pursuing my dreams was childish. I sought stories of successful individuals who achieved their dreams later in life, like Colonel Sanders, who started KFC at an older age. These examples helped me realize it is never too late to pursue what you truly want.

The Importance of Self-Worth

To overcome limiting subconscious beliefs, we need to recognize our self-worth, which is how much we value ourselves. Many people feel inadequate because of these beliefs, which can cause self-doubt and prevent action.

By confronting the negative thoughts that fuel limiting beliefs undermining our self-worth, we can change our perspective and embrace our greatness.

Crafting Your Dream

After breaking down your limiting beliefs, focus on creating your dream. Set clear, actionable goals that match your passions. Pursuing your dreams with intention helps you succeed.

The path to achieving your dreams isn’t straightforward. You will face obstacles, but every step you take brings you closer to your dream. Enjoy the journey, believe in yourself, and stay committed to your vision.
